Send leads from forms on your website

When a visitor fills in a contact or demo form on your website, they become a lead straight away, and get the same follow-up as every other lead. There are two ways to set this up, depending on how your form is built.

This guide shows you how to connect this source. By the end you will be able to have visitors who fill in a form on your website become leads straight away.

Before you start

  • A contact or demo form on your website, or a form tool such as Tally, Typeform or Webflow.
  • Someone who can edit your website, if you are pasting in the form code.

Steps

  1. 1

If your website is built by you or a developer: open Settings, then Lead sources, then Website form, and click Copy form code. Give this code to whoever looks after your website, or paste it into the page yourself. They can change how it looks and the thank-you page it sends people to, but the field names (name, email, phone, message) must stay as they are. This form address is safe to have on a public page: it can only add website-form leads and nothing else.

  2. 2

If you use a form tool such as Tally, Typeform, Webflow, WordPress forms, Zapier or Make: use the private link shown in the same box, in the tool's webhook setting (a webhook is how the tool sends each entry on to another program). In Tally, open your form, go to Integrations, then Webhooks, click Connect, and paste the private link.

  3. 3

Fill in your form yourself as a test. The entry should appear in Leads and the box should say Configured.

If something goes wrong

Never put the private link (the one with key= in it) on a web page.
Anyone who finds it could add leads to your workspace. Use the form code for your website, and keep the private link only inside form tools.
An entry didn't create a lead.
Every entry needs an email address or a phone number. If you built the form yourself, keep the field names from the form code. In Tally, add a real Email or Phone question, not a plain text question called email. If your form tool still doesn't work, send support one test entry and we will look.
You're getting spam entries.
The form code includes a hidden field that real visitors never see; robots fill it in and their entries are thrown away. Each visitor is also limited to a few entries every ten minutes.
You think someone has misused your form address.
Click Reset form address in the same box. The old address stops working straight away; give the new form code to whoever looks after your website.
A form tool stopped working.
The private link contains a secret code. If we ever tell you codes were reset, copy the new link from Settings, then Lead sources, and paste it into the tool again.

Nothing here matches what you see? Go through the checklist for leads that aren't arriving.
